lonely no more

One of my absolute favorites, Magnet, has just released his 3rd album entitled The Simple Life in Norway this week! The man behind Magnet is Even Johansen, an amazing and humble musician. His previous 2 CDs have been constant rotation since I discovered him back in 2004. Even's gorgeous and soft voice combined with a little rock and some electronic beats make fantastic and catchy melodies. While I enjoyed his previous 2 albums a little better, I'm always going to love everything Magnet puts out, he's a favorite forever.

oh sweet and luscious life

It's amazing how so many great talents fly under the radar. Patrick Watson is one of those talents. This Canadian musician has been compared to Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright and while the comparisons are a compliment, he is a talent in his own right. His mix of chamber pop and a little classical influence mixed with today's indie rock makes some incredible tunes. I absolutely have fallen in love with his 2006 CD Closer to Paradise. There are some unforgettable songs that hit you hard. This guy is fantastic.

you know i'm no good

Amy Winehouse may have a reputation for being a big partier, but you can't help but by blown away by her soulful voice. She has been popular over in the UK for months, but her CD Back to Black was finally released in the US this month and hopefully she will get as much recognition in the states. She has a voice that brings you back to the days of othe 50's and 60s, a mix of Billie Holiday and Lauryn Hill. She may be trouble, but you can't help but be sucked in by her jazzy music and her voice full of soul.

love don't cry, I'll never lie

Lisa Hannigan is best know for playing with the amazing Damien Rice, but I was lucky enough to stumble upon a beautiful video of her performing 4 solo songs, and wow...how I love this woman. She has one of the most gorgeous voices out there today. She makes it look so simple too....lucky girl. Someone was nice enough to capture the songs into mp3s, so you here you are...drool away.

time is a runaway

I rediscovered my love for The Alternate Routes this evening. I first started listening these guys back in 2005 but I haven't put their album on in quite some time. Forgot what a great voice Tim Warren has. This CT based band make some great rock music...a little something for everyone.

we don't need to say goodbye

This week has been one of many early CD leaks! Gotta love it. Anyways, I just got my hands on the new Feist album, The Reminder, which of course is beautiful as ever. Leslie Feist has put out another fantastic album that shows her flawless voice. This will be another record that will get plenty of spins in 2007. Looks like it's gonna be a good year...
